Butterfly Thinglink Project

Pain Strikes Sparks On Me, The Pain Of Terezin
By: Anonymous

Fifteen beds. Fifteen charts with names,
Fifteen people without a family tree.
Fifteen bodies for whom torture is medicine and pills.
Beds over which the crimson blood of ages spills.
Fifteen bodies that want to live here.
Thirty eyes seeking quietness.
Bald heads that gape from out of the prison.
The holiness of the suffering, which is none of my business.

The loveliness of the air, which day after day
Smells of strangeness and carbolic.
The nurses that carry thermometers
Mothers who grope after a smile.
Food is such a luxury here.
A long, long night, and a brief day.

But anyway, I don't want to leave
The lighted rooms and the burning checks,
Nurses who leave behind them only a shadow
To help the little sufferers.

I'd like to stay here, a small patient,
Waiting the doctor's daily round,
Until, after a long, long time, I'd be well again.

Then I'd like to live
And go back home again.

  1. I think you did well on your butterfly based on your poem. You did a good job at explaining the different parts of your butterfly. I like that you put the poem in your blog, so the reader can understand where your ideas came from. I also liked how you thought of using something to symbolize barbed wire around your butterfly. I think using clorox wipes for the doves was a good idea. I would have never thought of that!

  2. Hey James. First off, using the clorox wipes was a great idea that I think no one would of thought of. In a couple of tags I think you should add more interpretation, but they were good. Just work a little bit on your TIQA format. Overall great job!

  3. I think you did a very well job creating your butterfly based off your poem. You explained all the different parts of your butterfly very well too. I really liked how you thought of putting 30 eyes around your butterfly to show how 30 eyes were seeking quietness. I mostly liked how you thought of using clorox wipes for the doves. That was a really creative and unique idea. Including the poem in your blog was a good idea too because it helps the reader understand your butterfly better. Overall, great job James!

  4. Hey James. I'm with Evie, I really liked your idea of using clorax wipes to make the doves and represent the smell of the hospital; that was a very creative idea! I also liked how you included thirty eyes to represent the thirty eyes in the camp. Your butterfly was created very uniquely and creatively and you could understand what each part of your butterfly symbolized based off of your interpretations. Nice job overall, and good idea to include your poem inside your blog post as well. :)

  5. Hey James. I reall liked how you incorporated many things into your butterfly like the fifteen people. I can see in your poem that many things with the number 15 were emphasized. Like the 15 people that had 30 eyes. I mostly like that you used the clorox wipes because that helped point out two characteristics. One, the fact that the hospital had a lemon smell. And two, the doves that also symobolized many things such as freedom. Really nice job and you can tell it was well thought out.

  6. I can tell from all of the materials and the overall look of your butterfly that you spent a lot of time working on this project and that a lot of thought went into this. I really like how most of the things added to your butterfly symbolized something that was mentioned in your poem. I also like the amount of creativity added in this project. How you added the eyes and the wipes was so creative! It's cool how you were able to think of that. I agree with Evie that you could have added a little more interpretations to some of your links. Overall great job!
